Balancing our built and natural assets:
In a city such as Brevard, where nature visibly shapes the community’s size and bounds, understanding the environment’s capacity to accommodate growth is paramount. A national forest to the west and a river food plain to the east afford no room for wasteful development policy. Specific to Brevard, the handling of storm water and the capacity of natural systems to absorb rate and volume increases caused by development ultimately dictate the City’s future. How vital and prosperous Brevard will become depends on how its environment is addressed today.
As part of their work to update the existing Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) for the City of Brevard, CODEBrevard project team engineers WardEdwards Engineering have provided an analysis of Chapter 6 Environmental Protection for the current City of Brevard UDO.
